Location
Neighborhood overview
Glacier View is one of those places that feels much more like a stretch of wild country than a town. There isn’t really a downtown or commercial center—just scattered homes, lodges, mountain views, and the spectacular Matanuska Glacier dominating the landscape along the Glenn Highway. The area has only a few hundred residents and is known for its quiet, remote, “real Alaska” atmosphere.
The local vibe
* Wide-open mountain valleys
* Glacier views around almost every bend
* Independent, outdoorsy residents
* Very little traffic
* Strong hunting, fishing, hiking, and snowmachine culture
* Photographers, climbers, rafters, and road-trippers passing through
It’s the kind of place where people stop to watch sheep on a mountainside or spend an hour taking photos of changing light on the glacier. Glacier View feels more rugged and less tourist-developed than places like Talkeetna or Seward.

My family and I absolutely loved the campground and the host! Every site seems to have a view of the glacier. Very quiet, spacious sites, and a wonderful host. We will make this a regular spot.

Best view of any campground. Wonderful hosts, great for boondocking, close to the glacier and just off the highway. Highly recommend.
